Eimeo is one of Mackay’s northern beach suburbs. The Hope family had an existing raised entertainment deck and a straightforward brief: slot a pool in level with the deck, so the whole outdoor space read as one continuous room rather than a house-plus-hole.
Why the X-Trainer Maxi Rib fits this brief
We specified the Compass X-Trainer 7m Maxi Rib. The X-Trainer is the laned Compass shell — designed for lap training but small enough to fit a suburban block — and the Maxi Rib construction lets it sit above ground on its own structural ribs. Nothing external is bracing it. The pool structurally is the pool.
That structural independence is what let us set the coping level with the existing deck.
Quartz for coastal light
Colour: Quartz, one of the popular Bi-Luminite finishes. Quartz reads as a soft near-white in bright coastal light and shifts to a paler mineral tone under overcast — it holds well in Eimeo’s exposure.
Vantage on the coast
Vantage in-floor cleaning went into the shell — a big lift on a coastal site where salt-crust and windborne organic debris are constant. Cleaning by hand on the Eimeo escarpment would be a full weekend job every fortnight; Vantage does most of it.
Travertine coping, blue gum decking
Around the pool we ran travertine coping — cool underfoot, non-slip, a good visual bridge between the pool waterline and the timber deck — and specified blue gum for the new decking sections so it matched the existing structure.
Sightlines from the kitchen
The finished install functions as an extension of the existing living space. Because the pool sits at deck level rather than in a hole, the sightlines from the kitchen out to the ocean read as continuous — no fence line to look over, no coping edge to read as a barrier.
It’s exactly the kind of project the Compass Maxi Rib range was engineered to enable.
