Bi-Luminite™ colours

Bi-Luminite™ is Compass's exclusive two-layer colour system — dual pigment, large reflective chips, and a protective ArmourShield coat over the top. Nine colours, real 3D depth in the water, and a 10-year cosmetic warranty backed by lifetime structural.

9 exclusive Bi-Luminite colours (and 5 Vivid ones alongside)

The colour of your pool is the biggest single visual decision you'll make about your backyard for the next 25 years. It sets the mood, it defines how the water reads against your paving, and — with the right technology behind it — it holds up decade after decade under Mackay's tropical sun.

Bi-Luminite is Compass's proprietary two-layer colour technology. Rather than a single tinted gelcoat like most fibreglass pools, Bi-Luminite lays two colour layers with large reflective chips suspended in the top gelcoat. The result is a genuinely three-dimensional finish — the colour shifts subtly through the day, holds depth at every angle, and never reads flat.

  • 9 Bi-Luminite colours, 5 Vivid — 14 in total. From soft Quartz through to deep Evolution and vivid Sapphire. Something for every block, every home style, every taste.
  • Two-layer technology, not single-tint. Bi-Luminite has real depth. The reflective chips catch the light and give the water genuine dimension.
  • ArmourShield protective coat. An additional vinyl ester resin layer over the colour protects it from chlorine, salt and UV — why the cosmetic warranty runs 10 years.
  • Sample chips brought to your site visit. Screen colours are never the same as real ones. We bring physical chips to your backyard so you can see them in your light.

The four layers behind Bi-Luminite

Compass rebuilt the standard fibreglass colour system from scratch. Four choices, one very different finish.

Large colour chips

Full-size reflective chips suspended in the top gelcoat catch light and give the pool its signature 3D depth.

Two pigment layers

A tinted base layer under a chip-loaded top layer. The two work together to produce colour that shifts through the day.

Suspended reflectors

The reflectors sit at multiple depths in the gelcoat, so light reads back through the pigment from every angle.

ArmourShield coat

A vinyl ester resin overcoat locks the pigment in, protects against chlorine and UV, and unlocks the 10-year cosmetic warranty.

Straight answers · Bi-Luminite™ colours FAQs

Bi-Luminite™ colours — the pool questions we get asked most.

What is Bi-Luminite pool colour technology?

It's an exclusive Compass Pools colour system that uses two pigment layers plus large reflective chips suspended in a tinted top gelcoat. The two layers work together to create genuine three-dimensional depth — the colour changes character with the light and the water, rather than reading as a flat single tint like most fibreglass pools.

How many Bi-Luminite colours are there?

Nine Bi-Luminite colours: Quartz, Evolution, Pacific, Sapphire, Atlantic, Pearl, Viridian, Vercoe and Pink Quartz. The four most-installed across Mackay are Quartz, Evolution, Pacific and Sapphire. Alongside those there are five Vivid range colours — Ivory Shimmer, Arctic Marine, Ice Blue, Grey Marble and Royal Blue — for a total of 14 across the two ranges.

What warranty comes with a Bi-Luminite pool?

Every Bi-Luminite Compass pool comes with a 10-year cosmetic warranty and a lifetime structural warranty. That's a genuinely unusual combination in the fibreglass industry — the cosmetic warranty is possible because of the ArmourShield vinyl-ester overcoat protecting the pigment from chemicals and UV. Vivid pools carry a 7-year cosmetic and a 25-year structural. Full terms in the manufacturer's warranty document; happy to email it before you commit.

What's the difference between Bi-Luminite and Vivid?

Bi-Luminite is the two-layer 3D-depth range — 9 colours, 10-year cosmetic warranty, lifetime structural. Vivid is a single-layer range with a brighter, higher-clarity finish — 5 colours, 7-year cosmetic warranty, 25-year structural. Both perform above the fibreglass industry standard. Vivid comes in at a slightly lower price point, so it's a good option for tighter budgets that still want a properly warranted Compass shell.

Which colour is most popular in Mackay?

Across our Mackay installs the top four are Quartz (soft warm grey-white — reads great in coastal light), Evolution (deep charcoal blue-grey with dramatic contrast — featured on the Martin family install), Pacific (clear tropical aqua) and Sapphire (deep vivid ocean blue — featured on the Cowen X-Trainer spa). Ivory Shimmer from the Vivid range has been strong lately too — you can see it on the Andergrove install.

Does pool colour affect water temperature?

A little. Darker colours (Evolution, Viridian, Atlantic) absorb slightly more solar heat and can lift water temperature a degree or two. Lighter colours (Pearl, Quartz) reflect more. In Mackay the effect is modest — we're hot enough that the colour choice is more about visual than thermal. Ask Luke on the site visit; we'll bring both extremes as physical chips.

How long does a Bi-Luminite colour last?

Bi-Luminite was engineered on the assumption that a pool sits in the ground for a full lifetime. Any surface exposed to chlorine, UV and time will change slightly over decades — the honest goal was to make that change slow enough to be barely noticeable. In practical terms: you can expect your Bi-Luminite pool to still look stunning 25 years from now, which is exactly why the 10-year cosmetic warranty is possible.

How do I pick the right colour for my Mackay backyard?

Colour on a screen is not colour on a block. On your site visit we bring physical Bi-Luminite and Vivid sample chips and hold them against your existing paving, your fencing, your afternoon light, your surrounding planting. That thirty minutes with actual chips makes a much bigger difference than any brochure. Book a free colour consult below.
