Luke Geering and Stacy Devenish, Smart Self Cleaning Pools

A second-generation pool builder.

I’m Luke Geering, owner, operator and licensed pool builder at Smart Self Cleaning Pools, and I’m proud to be a second-generation pool builder.

My passion for the industry started with my father, Jeff Geering. Jeff spent many years as the Factory Manager at Compass Pools before becoming the Queensland Distributor for Compass Pools in 2009. His knowledge, craftsmanship and commitment to quality laid the foundation for what we continue today.

Together with my father Jeff, my brother Trent Geering of Gen2 Pools, and myself, our family has accumulated more than 50 years of combined experience supplying and installing Compass Self-Cleaning Pools throughout Queensland. That experience has been passed down through generations and continues to shape the way we build today.

Luke Geering, Stacy Devenish and the kids — the Smart Self Cleaning Pools family business

A family business, on site with you every step of the way.

Unlike many pool companies where the salesperson disappears after you’ve signed the contract, I’m involved every step of the way. From your initial consultation and design advice through to construction and handover, I’m on site ensuring every pool is built to the high standards our family name has become known for.

Alongside me is my partner, Stacy Devenish, who keeps the business running behind the scenes, ensuring every customer enjoys a smooth and enjoyable experience from start to finish.

Smart Self Cleaning Pools is a true family business, and one of the things we’re most proud of is seeing our children develop a genuine interest in the industry. They can often be found lending a hand on pool installations, learning the trade and continuing what has become a three-generation family legacy.

As a family-owned and operated business, we understand that building a swimming pool is one of the biggest investments you’ll make in your home. That’s why we treat every project as if we were building it in our own backyard.

Three things we won’t do.

  • We won’t sell you the biggest pool that fits. If a smaller model suits how you’ll actually use it, we’ll say so — even though we make less on it.
  • We won’t compare Compass to other brands on our website. Every “Us vs Them” chart is written by someone with skin in the game. Ask other builders instead.
  • We won’t chase you. If you tell us you’re still thinking, we’ll leave you alone. Life’s too short for phone tag.
Behind the website

Built to be found — on Google and in AI answers.

When we rebuilt this website, a new look was only half the job. More Mackay families now start their pool research by asking ChatGPT, Gemini or Google’s AI summaries rather than scrolling through search results, and we wanted a site those tools could properly read, understand and point people to.

We worked with Andrej from Catnapweb, a Melbourne-based AI SEO and GEO specialist, to turn it into an AI-ready website: clear structured data, straight answers to the questions our customers actually ask, and pages built around the Mackay and Isaac suburbs we genuinely service. Andrej also set up enquiry tracking that shows us where every enquiry starts — a Google search, our Business Profile, an ad or an AI assistant — so we know what’s working and where to focus.

For a small family business, that matters. Good local SEO means the right families find us when they’re ready to build, and I get to spend less time behind a desk and more time on site doing what I love — building pools.

Ready when you are.

A free site visit, a straight quote, and no follow-up pressure. Luke will come to you anywhere from Mackay to the Isaac region.
